Sammi Cheng entered showbiz at the age of 16 through the local singing contest New Talent Singing Awards in 1988, though she only won the third place, Sammi Zheng Xiu Wen won the recognition from the Award show recording company, Capital Artists. That was when everything began.

After her winning the top 10 songs award from Jade Solid Gold in 1993 with the single "Do you really have me in your heart" with Andy Hui, Sammi Cheng Sau Man  transformed her appearance by dying her hair colour to orange and changing her fashion style. Just when everyone was wondering about her sudden disappearance in 1995 from showbiz, Sammi Cheng came back with a new recording company and back-to-basic hair colour and style, apart from her wild image.
